Two rockets

One rocket is arriving and the other one is taking off. Black Woodpeckers sharing their family duties. During the hatching and keeping very young nestlings warm the pair trades duties. Usually the female stays on the nest for two hours and the male for one and a half. Nighttime obligations rest on the shoulders of the male for about 90% of the time. At least that is the behavior in this family.
