Estonian Rock Ptarmigan

In Estonia we don’t have rock ptarmigans, they tend to like it more up north in tundra landscapes. However, like all grouse species, our Grey Partridges can transform into Snow Ptarmigans by digging themselves into the snow so that the plumage will look white and only the head and bill will be stand out. They do so on cold winter days to escape the cold air.
