One of spring’s voices
Spring has a lot of voices. Depending on what you are accustomed to spring can take on a variety of soundtracks. To some it can be the screeching sound of a Black Woodpecker , to some the unmistakable sound of a chiffchaff and to some something else. In the same way to some the voice of spring can be the grinding of a Capercaillie. I suspect that the number of people who set their spring clock according to the calls of capercaillie are getting less and less by every year, because for such a connection you have to be a permanent resident of an old growth forest household. Sadly such households are getting left to be reclaimed by nature more and more every year.
