Remains of winter

Usually the ground between bog pools is dark, yet the pools themselves are darker still, sometimes even black. Only winter covers both the ground and water equally in white. In early spring, when everything is melting, a small miracle occurs and the bog pools become lighter than the ground around them. The snow had gone, but it takes more time for the ice to melt.
